Strongest typhoon in a decade hits 'China's Hawaii' 

A Powerful Typhoon Hits Hainan Island

A big storm called a typhoon hit a popular island south of China. The storm was very strong and brought a lot of wind and rain. It was the most powerful storm to hit the island in ten years.

The storm, named Yagi, hit the city of Wenchang on Hainan island. The wind was very strong, blowing at 223 kilometers per hour. This was stronger than any other storm that had hit the island since 2014.

Many people had to leave their homes because of the storm. About 400,000 people were moved to safe places. Trains, boats, and airplanes stopped running, and schools were closed.

The storm caused a lot of damage. It was expected to bring a lot of rain and strong winds, which could be very dangerous.
