After interstate shootings wound 5, Kentucky searchers scour rugged terrain for suspect 


A suspect is currently at large following a shooting on Interstate 75 in Kentucky that wounded five people. The shootings took place near exit 49, where multiple rounds were fired into vehicles on both the northbound and southbound lanes. The shooter, identified as Joseph A. Couch, abandoned his SUV and left behind an AR-15 rifle near the scene. The attack is believed to have been a random act, with no clear motive established yet.

Authorities have been searching rugged, wooded terrain in Laurel County for Couch, who is considered armed and dangerous. The search, which has included drones and helicopters, has made residents in the area anxious, with many staying indoors as police continue the manhunt. The wounded victims, one from Kentucky and the others from out of state, were hospitalized, with some suffering serious injuries.

Couch had a history of prior charges, including a terroristic threatening charge that was dropped earlier this year. Local officials have urged the public to remain vigilant while the search continues​
